William Fisher, PhD is Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Western University in London, Canada and co-founder and research affiliate of the Centre for Health, Intervention and Prevention at the University of Connecticut. His research focuses on conceptualizing and testing basic models for the prediction and promotion of health behavior change, and application of this approach in the domain of HIV/AIDS prevention and reproductive health promotion. His research in this area has been supported by the US National Institutes of Health for the past 25 years, and he has published over 200 papers in this research domain He has been a National Health Scientist for Health Canada and is a fellow of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. He is also associate editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, consulting editor of Archives of Sexual Behavior, and serves on the editorial board of several other professional journals.
